The 'Work Smarter' (work studies) teacher inservice was held on 2nd September. Feedback from the 30 teachers in attendance was very positive. Allan Jones excelled with his organisation and presenters Bob Mulas and Robyn Elks ensured the success of the day.

At the request of the participating teachers, a Work Smarter inservice 2 will be held on Friday 9th March (download flyer) - content will differ from first inservice.

The 2011 Year 8 Hunter / Central Coast Trivia day was held on Friday 2nd December at the Toronto Workers Club. Students were keen and represented their school with distinction. Congratulations to Merewether High who finished in top spots closely followed by Lambton High. This successful day is planned to run again in 2012.


Year 8 Geography Trivia Quiz 2011 was held at St Marys Band Club Friday 28th October 2011. Over 300 Year 8 students and over 30 teachers/parents attended. Feedback on the day was extremely positive. Many schools travelled a great distance to attend including Oak Flats High . Congratulations to all teams on the day for the way they conducted themselves . Music CDs and itunes cards were won from the floor. First timers, Georges River Grammar,  took home the winning trophy.


The annual teachers in-service was held at Penrith Paceway Wednesday 17th Aug 2011. An enthusiastic group were treated to 'teacher trivia', presentation skills and social interaction. About 50 teachers enjoyed the afternoon. Thanks must go to Steve Etheridge for his compelling presentation and trivia challenge.




NSW Geog Comp 2011
The 2011 results  are outlined below:

Cut offs for certificates were 50-40 High Distinction (top 8%), 39-35  Distinction (top 21%), 34-29 Credit (top 52%).
Around 10,000 students participated from 80 schools. The highest mark attained by three students in NSW was 49.  The state average was 30.2, slightly up on last year (28.6).
Thank you to all the teachers in schools who coordinated this exercise and to Steve Etheridge (president) who organised the competition. 

The 2011 NSW Geography Competition certificates and result sheets have  been sent


2011 Business Studies and Economics Student Days were very successfully run during Term 2 2011. Thanks to Business organisers Ian Biddle / Glenn Wilkins and the Economics team of Rose Calfas /Steve Duclos.
